Letter to My Students

There are many exciting things to learn in 3rd grade. We will do lots of reading and writing. We will have penpals from another school district. This should be very exciting!

We will study ecosystems and how we affect our environment. We will grow plants and study the solar system, and we will use a device that measures the sun’s rays. We will learn about communities and regions in Social Studies. There will be projects that you will do by yourself and some with a group. In Math, you will learn to multiply and divide so you can begin memorizing your multiplication facts.

As you can see, we will have a busy year. There will be many things you'll enjoy, and I'm sure there'll be some things that will make you groan. But I promise that if you work hard every day and give your best effort, you will become a better student and be ready for 4th grade in June.

I'm very happy you're going to be in my classroom. Remember to stay focused and do your best, and everything will be just great!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Waters
